Through its Transit Operator’s Committee, SPC advanced cooperative regional initiatives and provided technical assistance to the region’s sponsors of public transit projects and services in 2011. Projects advanced to completion in 2011 included:
Beaver County Transit Authority— Rochester Roundabout
$1.5 million joint “Smart Transportation” project with PennDOT District 11-0 funded with Pennsylvania Community Transportation Initiative (PCTI) funding
Butler Transit Authority—Butler Multi-Modal Center
$3 million construction of administrative and maintenance facilities in the Pullman Center former brownfield site in downtown Butler
Fayette Area Coordinated Transportation – $225,000 Bus Replacement project
Indiana County Transit Authority—Farebox Replacement
Mid-Mon Valley Transit Authority— Automatic Vehicle Location (AVL) System implementation
New Castle Area Transit Authority— $2 million Park & Ride Facility along Route 422 in Lawrence County
Port Authority of Allegheny County—Bus Replacement
Initiation of $28 million, 4-year “State-of-Good-Repair” Federal grant to replace up to 310 buses that have reached their useful life
