Belachew joined the Southwestern Pennsylvania Commission in 2008. As a Data Analyst III, he collects, researches, prepares, analyzes, and summarizes complex data, so that our organization, external stakeholders, and planning partners can make decisions that are based on accurate data and valid information. When he works on a project, he meticulously documents his processes, procedures, and methods for how he derived the data. As part of this work, Belachew creates and produces data that can be easily understood using tables, charts, maps, graphs, dashboards, and reports. He is a Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) from the Project Management Institute, and is certified in IBM Data Science. He earned a diploma in Remote Sensing and Environmental Information Systems in Berlin, Germany. He also has a Bachelor of Science in Earth Science and Geology from Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia, and a Master of Arts degree in Internal Development, Development Planning and Environmental Sustainability from the University of Pittsburgh.
